British Muslim attacked for wearing headscarf

A British Muslim woman was allegedly attacked by a group of women as she was on her way to collect her children from an Islamic school in south London last week Thursday.

The mother of two was on her way to collect her children when a group of women began “shouting and hurling abuse”. The woman was allegedly asked if she was hot wearing the headscarf prior to the attack.

The unnamed British Muslim told the Evening Standard newspaper, “they pulled my headscarf off and started punching and kicking me. One was dragging my head down while the others were hitting me. They were being so racist and using derogatory terms”.

Police are investigating the incident and two suspects, aged 18 and 35, have been arrested.

“We take any offense seriously. We have made two arrests in connection with our ongoing investigation.” A Metropolitan Police spokesman said.
